- Do you do appraisals and provide certificates?
- Yes we do.
- Any tips on jewellery care?
- If you have stones in a ring, clean the ring by using soapy water and a small paintbrush at least once a month to ensure your stones sparkle. It is worth investing in good off-the-shelf jewellery cleaning products; they do work.
- How long do repairs take?
- All repairs are done within 3-4 days.
- What is the difference between 9ct and 18ct gold and the colour?
- 9ct gold is 37.5% pure gold and 18ct gold is 75% pure gold. So there is twice as much gold in 18ct than in 9ct and that is reflected in the price. Different alloys are mixed in with 75% gold, which gives you a different colour gold. There are about 15 different colours and white gold comes in different shades of white. There are also different harnesses of gold that are used for different proposes, such as Pin Gold used used primarily for clasps, snaps and pins on broaches.
- What is Rhodium Plating?
- Rhodium is part of the platinum family and Rhodium plating is a finish put onto white gold after the final polish to make it more white and shiny. The Rhodium plating can wear off over time depending on the wearer. It is fairly expensive to have a piece redone in this finish, but it can be done.
